WELCOME TO

OUR CLUB

Rediscover, Discover, Ignore everything you ever knew about square dancing.

We are a non-profit club with 95 + members and we offer three things: Choreography, Moving to Music/Rhythm and most of all, Sociability; we are just a perfect outlet from the everyday stress of the outside world.

It’s been said that sociability is the glue that holds a club together.  People want to make friends and be accepted and what better way of doing that than by dancing, laughing and working together in a cordial atmosphere.

And we offer so much more:

Group activities:  theater outings, games, demos at festivals, restaurant nights, mystery trips, fundraisers. picnics.

If you are looking for an activity that will provide you not only with exercise but with warmth, laughter, fun, a new circle of friends and the feeling of a family, then we are for you.”

New to Square Dancing?

Square Dance is a dance composed of four couples standing in a square formation (8 people). The square dance progresses through specific patterns called or sung out to the dancers by a caller using music CDs or in special occasions, tunes played by a band. A person does not need to have any knowledge of previous dancing or need to follow a partner. If you have ever wanted to dance and were told you had no rhythm, you’ll be surprised how you will be dancing in no time and the best of all, having fun while doing it.

Benefits of Square Dancing

An inexpensive activity with many rewards! It’s time to get out and have some fun! You have nothing to lose but a lot to gain.

REDISCOVER

Rediscover what modern Square Dance is all about. Modern music, modern attire and a true representation of our american heritage.

DISCOVER

Discover that you will exercise and not realize it; with every dance tip you walk 1200 steps and not even know you did it. You will dance for two hours and have fun while doing so; you will socialize with people of different backgrounds: teachers, engineers, nurses, accountants, social workers and the list goes on. You will be constantly challenging your mind. And you won’t want to let go.

IGNORE

Ignore what you have heard about it being only a barn dance or your 4th grade gym class!  We have fun: we travel, attend festivals and conventions, hold picnics and theater outings, and do it all as a group.  You can, too!

We offer two FREE fun nights through our Student Lessons starting in September. This is your opportunity to get a feel for it and see if it‛s right for you!

Student lessons were designed to help you learn all the necessary calls and patterns during a dance. Once you have attended 12 lessons or more you are welcome to attend Beginner dances.

Yes, it is!

Mainstream is the precursor to Plus, which is the standard level at which most clubs typically dance.  At this level you will already know over 100 calls from having taken student lessons and participated in at least a few beginner dances.

Couples are welcome, but not required.

No, unfortunately, because of the length of sessions, lessons run from September through April. However, if you get together a large group of persons we may consider starting a new set of lessons.

The Square Dance look has changed. We may see everything from full western to graceful skirts and dresses at Conventions but most dancers will wear comfortable contemporary outfits that look good on the dance floor. Dancing shoes with a soft-leather sole are recommended.
